biographies & legacies
Children researched and wrote a biography about a person with Aboriginal or Torres Strait Islander heritage, detailing their contributions and the legacy they have gifted to their community.
Their art piece reflected what they had learned and represented their perception of their subject's legacy. Subjects included people from the Arts, Business, Activism and Sport.

The Fishing Trip
The short story called 'The Fishing Trip' by Jane Christophersen, an Elder of the Buniti clan in Kakadu National Park, was used in reading classes for two purposes: to explore the reading skill of Cause and Effect, and for the students to respond to the text by making connections to their own life.
COMPARE and CONTRAST
In Reading groups, children used the reading resource Our Land, Our Stories to compare and contrast the Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander resistance fighters with Native American resistance fighters. They also compared and contrasted the Redfern Speech (given by Prime Minister Paul Keating in 1992) with the National Apology (given by Prime Minister Kevin Rudd in 2008).
DOCUMENTARY
Children researched and created a documentary about Australia's shared history, using a timeline that predated colonisation.
